Pre-Christmas checklist for a safe holiday season on the roads

Make sure your vehicle is in good working order. Check your tires, brakes, and lights, and get any necessary repairs done before you hit the road.

Plan your route ahead of time. Know the directions to your destination and allow extra time for potential delays due to holiday traffic.

Get plenty of rest before your trip. Drowsy driving can be dangerous, so make sure you are well rested before setting out on a long drive.

Don’t drink and drive. If you plan to celebrate with alcohol, designate a sober driver or make arrangements for a ride home.

Buckle up. Make sure everyone in your vehicle is wearing a seatbelt, and make sure children are properly secured in car seats or booster seats.

Avoid distractions. Put away your phone and any other electronic devices while driving, and focus on the road.

Follow the speed limit and other traffic laws. Obey traffic signals and watch for pedestrians, especially in busy shopping areas.

Keep an emergency kit in your car. Make sure you have a spare tire, jumper cables, and other essentials in case of a breakdown.

Stay alert. Pay attention to the road and your surroundings, and be prepared for unexpected situations.

By following these tips, you can help ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday season on the roads.
